When you want to take your business to the next level, professional brand photography is the way to go! Before you step in front of the camera, it’s important to prep for your branding session to ensure you get the best results possible.
I’ve put together a quick guide with tips for your next branding session including outfit inspiration, hair and makeup tips, and prop ideas.
When it comes to outfit choices, think about your brand and the image you want to portray through your photos. If your brand is more casual, then your clothing can reflect that with a blouse and jeans. On the other hand, if your brand is more formal, consider wearing a blazer.
Colors are important to consider too. Neutral tones are always a safe choice, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color that matches your brand.
It’s best to go with a style you’re comfortable with rather than trying something new the day of your shoot. When it comes to makeup, the goal is to enhance your natural features and make you feel confident. Less is more so opt for nude lips and soft eye looks when you prep for your branding session.
If you’re not sure what to do with your hair, you can hire a hairstylist or ask a friend to help you out. Curling your hair is always a great option. You can do half up styles, a low pony, or a bun. Consider adding a hair accessory like a clip, headband, or hat.
Props can help you tell your story in your brand photos. Think about the props that make sense for your brand. For example, if you’re a copywriter, it would make sense to have a laptop in your photos. A baker may want baked goods or kitchen utensils, while a hair stylist would want a hairbrush or blow dryer. Other prop ideas include a phone, camera, coffee mug, plant, disco ball, or a bottle of champagne.
I captured this brand photography session of a fellow photographer and we used a camera, macbook, dried florals, and a hat as props in these photos. It adds a fun personal touch!
