You’ve likely heard how important Reels are when it comes to your Instagram marketing strategy. Reels give your account more visibility, increase your following, and provide valuable content to your existing audience. But, coming up with new Instagram Reel ideas for your small business can be overwhelming.
That’s why I put together this list of 10 Instagram Reel ideas for small business owners. Use these ideas exactly as they are or put your own, unique twist on them.
Create a Reel that tells your story or shares your history. How did you get to where you are today? What made you start your own business? This gives your audience a peek at your past and shows that you’re an expert in your industry as you share previous experience.
Record a day in the life of a small business owner. You can change the title to include your industry if you want to be more specific. Record short clips of your tasks throughout the day and edit them together to create an interesting look at your daily life as a business owner. Simple tasks like enjoying a morning cup of coffee can be included too.
Share three tips that will help your audience with a problem they have. For example, if you’re a photographer, you can share 3 helpful tips for getting comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re a boutique owner, you can share 3 helpful tips for finding your personal style. If you’re a landscaper, you can share 3 helpful tips for keeping plants alive.
We could all use a motivational boost every now and then, so sharing an inspirational quote is an easy way to spark some feel-good emotions in your viewers. Plus, your followers are likely to share that Reel to their Stories which can increase your views.
Showcase your product or service in action. If you’re a photographer, you can show a behind the scenes video and then show the final image after it’s been edited. If you own a flower shop, show the arrangement being made and then show it getting delivered to a happy recipient.
This is a two part process that can encourage interaction between you and your audience. In Instagram Stories, use the question sticker so your audience can ask you any questions they have. Then, answer one of those questions in a Reel. This is a great way to create content that you know your audience will value.
Has something exciting happened to your customer or client? Has something exciting happened as a result of your work with them? Share it!
Take a time-lapse video of you working. It could be as simple as you sitting at your desk, typing away on the computer. Add text over the top of the video that explains what you’re doing or share a thought about your business. This gives an inside look at a process that most of your clients will never see, and it can be achieved with minimal effort.
Create a Reel where you share some facts about yourself so your audience can get to know you better. This is the perfect way to create new connections. Maybe you and your audience have a shared love of a specific TV show you can bond over. Or maybe they disagree with your coffee order and want to share the drink you should order next. It’s a fun way to create banter and form connections.
Don’t be afraid to show some of your personal life. The truth is, people love working with business owners they like and trust. If you just went on an amazing vacation, share some of the footage you captured. You can even give recommendations for the amazing restaurants you dined at. Just watched an incredible movie or documentary? Recommend it to your audience. Reels don’t have to be all work and no play!
